Phi Mu Foundation was chartered in 1957 as a general welfare corporation with tax-exempt status. Phi Mu Foundation is a Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to Phi Mu Foundation are deductible for federal income tax purposes. Bequests are also deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Foundation is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees. Board members serve staggered terms and are elected at the general membership meeting each biennium. Trustees are all volunteers.

Phi Mu members are not automatically members of Foundation. A Phi Mu in good standing becomes a member of Foundation when her cumulative giving level reaches $50.

As a Phi Mu continues to give, she will receive recognition for reaching various levels of giving.

Foundation contacts Phi Mus several times each year to solicit funds. The goal is to remind each sister of the important responsibility she has to help preserve Phi Mu for future generations. The amount of each gift is less important than the fact members establish a habit of contributing regularly to the Foundation.
