Making Every Dollar Count

The Foundation strives to stretch its resources to the maximum. And yet, the economic situation of today requires an even greater attention to the issue. Even before the economy took a downturn, the Board of Trustees worked diligently to broaden the diversification of the Foundation’s investments in preparation for a time such as this. Like everyone else who has money invested in U.S. markets, the Foundation has seen a loss. But, the magnitude of the loss has been minimized by the Board of Trustees’ working in conjunction with top-notch financial advisors.

The Annual Fund is the Foundation’s operating budget and the lifeblood of the organization. The primary, and most effective, fundraising method for the Annual Fund is direct mail. As the cost of printing, postage and outsourcing development programs continued to rise, the Board took action and brought the direct mail program in-house. In addition, rather than sending pre-printed address labels in the fall kick-off mailing, they were made available by request. This allowed the Foundation to continue to provide personalized labels to donors who wanted them, while eliminating the cost of printing those going to bad addresses or to women who would prefer not to receive them.

The needs of the Fraternity have not diminished. Phi Mu is growing! New campuses are being added each year and more students are entering the Greek system. The Foundation continues to fund many grants vital to the Fraternity including:

  • A portion of the salaries of the Programming and Leadership Coordinator and the Leadership Consultants
  • Online Leadership Center
  • Always Phi Mu
  • Personal financial management and other life skills education
  • Support for the philanthropic activities of our chapters

To our donors, we thank you for your support. To those who have not yet given to the Foundation, know that we need you - at whatever level is comfortable.
